Vic retired from government service after 27 years of mostly honorable contributions, concluding a unique career that spanned the intelligence community both domestically and abroad. A Cold Warrior by trade, he first encountered the Global War on Terror in 1979 during the Iranian Hostage Crisis.

Vic is intimately familiar with the maddening intricacies of the inter-agency process in Washington, and he holds deep respect for those still working tirelessly within the bureaucratic trenches—the true silent service.

His final government role was a senior position at the Department of Health and Human Services, an unlikely placement where he focused on Public Health Emergency Preparedness. His last mission was not against terrorists but the fight against SARS. He proudly boasts the Public Health Service Meritorious Unit Commendation and the National Intelligence Medal of Achievement, though finding the ribbons proves elusive.

Transitioning to the private sector, Vic has undertaken four tours with Beltway Bandits. He can be seen driving his flashy convertible, Crown Vic P-71 Police Interceptor, or formidable Panzer across Arlington and Fairfax Counties in search of new opportunities to aid a beleaguered government.

In his continued adventures, Vic frequently encounters familiar faces from the three-letter agencies. The stories he has discreetly penned over the years are now being shared with an unsuspecting world.

Some of Vic’s vignettes periodically appear on Dan Damon’s World Update on the BBC World Service and are published on his blog, the “Daily Socotra.”
